Stucco Construction joints drawn with model llines do not show when rendering

The stucco construction joints drawn with model lines on the exterior elevations (to show scoring when the wall is very large) do show in the elevations and in the 3D model, but when the model is rendered using one of the rendering methods in the cube on the left lower corner of the Revit window (shaded, realistic, etc.) , these lines to show the scoring do not show. The rendering is basically OK, but I wonder why these lines do not show on the rendered model. I thought that when we use model lines (against detail lines) the lines have to show in the model.

Any advise or feedback a out this?

Thanks in advance.

They are visible in the model. However when rendered they will not show. You can think of it as this, model lines have no material an no depth and thus renderer will not be able to render it.

If you need to show separation in the renderer you will need to create this. This can be done to make use of a small extrusion. Depending on the type of renders you make this could be a small solid extrusion or a small void extrusion. Otherwise you have to create small gaps in other ways.

Model lines have no surface or volume so they cannot show in a rendering. Use wall reveals or a line based family for hor/ver straight lines, or an adaptive family for complex curves.

Will like to see suggestion on ways on how to add the scoring to the Revit drawing that will show on the rendering. The attached rendering do not show the scoring that is seen when a PDF is created.

How to add the voids?

Would recommend to solve this issue within the texture. It makes no sense to model a very detailed pattern on your surface.

The "Wall Reveal" "Default" profile seems to work, but it is too BIG. the reveals that the wall have are something like 1/2" x 1/2". How or where do we make that "Default" reveal smaller? (it is parametric?).

Create a new profile. New family > Profile-reveal > draw whatever you want. Load it into your project.

Thanks, it seems to work.

Might have to figure out a way to paint the interior black or another darker color.

Reveals being so common in architecture, I wonder why the default "wall reveal" cannot be made parametric so we could change the dimensions on the spot without so much hassle.

Interesting subject, thought.

So, basically what you are saying is that you want a "reveal" which can be sized per Instance -- not per Type. Well then, create a Line-Based Family that pulls a void cut, and create Instance Parameters to control each instance's depth and height.

BTW: you can paint the interior faces of the reveal black by using the Paint Tool.

...you know, that when Thin Lines are turned off, that 1/2" x 1/2" reveal may just look like one thick line. Wall Reveals use the Wall Projection/Cut Lines Weights.

In the family editor??? The family is a profile -- not geometry. Do you look at what I posted? You paint the faces of the reveal geometry that is created from the profile. The Paint tool is located on the Modify Tab of the Project.

Continuing with my rendering education, I have the following issue: I have now the problem with the west wall, which is existing brick, to be painted of the color shown, but has some undesired reflections, which I believe are not sun or shade reflections. It is the short wall where the window is.
