How to add TYP SIM OPP to section/callout tags?

I see this topic posted many times decades ago and people just saying to add text next to section and callout tags for TYP SIM OPP. There has to be a better way now right? How can I have a simple text box near my tags that I can write anything in for each instance of the tag?

It sounds like you are coming from AutoCAD or something similar. Sure you could add a lable to the tag and have it behave like an attribute and type the value into it but it is easily solved with 3 tag types. Simply select the type that you want.

Why are you opposed to just adding the text notation? What are you wanting to improve upon? Doesn't sound systematic if you want to be able to "write anything".

I just duplicated the callout to make 3 kinds, but if I change one callout all the other callouts change too...

That's done via Type Parameter. There is no Instance Parameters. I thought you wanted to have different notations per Instance.

Then they are all the same "kind"/type? When done correctly, my suggestion works. Share what you have for help.

Use text. There is no better way.

Create different types for each - SIM, OPP, TYP

Alternately, upgrade to Revit 2026 which allows you to edit the values in each tag instance - so you don't need to create new types.

As @Sahay_R said, in Revit 26 this is an option, BUT it's an instance parameter, so the effort is pretty much the same as using text. Although I guess there is some value in having it tied to the callout.
