How can I add column top and bottom level numbers (or level heights) to column tags?

I am trying to add column top and bottom level numbers or level heights to the column tags.

When I edit Column Tag Family and then edit label, there is no parameter related to column top and bottom levels to add to the tag.

I defined some shared parameters, but the problem is that I select parameters from some lists. But those lists do not include column top and bottom levels. Why isn't there such a parameter, it is one of the basics.

Thank you for your answer but spot elevation is dimensioning not tag and working only at site level. It doesn't work for level 1 and level 2 columns.

Isn't there a way to do this?

I am trying to do what you have shown me also on plan layouts of Level 1 and Level 2:

But spot elevation is not put on plan elevations.

I tried to achieve this by tags but the only information I could fetch into a tag was column length, section heigh etc, not column bottom and top levels. It is below:

Since this is Building Information Modelling, and I have already entered this information, I want to fetch it and do this, automatically. I don't want to write manual information on the plans such as "above" or "below" next to a column. This is time consuming and may be erroneous.

I'm still kind of lost. Why can't you use Spot Elevations?

Also, regarding your Tag: "Height" is not a Property of Columns.

You used my file I assume, but how did you do this?

It doesn't allow me to put spot elevation in Level 1 or 2. My cursor shows a sign, I couldn't capture it with print screen so I used microsoft step capture. Quality is low but you can see what I see below:

Thank you very much for your answer. I had unchecked it before. Now I checked It came back. Either I couldn't save or not loaded into project. Now I am able to put spot elevations on Level 1. But this time I cannot put it to Level 2 although pre cut is unchecked. Is there another thing I am missing?

You could create a shared parameter of length, and set it to the elevation of start Level and end Level by other way like Addin or Dynamo.

And then show the start Level elevation+Base Offset for the start elevation,

and the end Level elevation+Top Offset for the end elevation in the Column Tag.

*In Tag Family, you should add target's shared parameter in Label instead of in family type.

Thank you for your answer but for a simple height I don't want to use APIs. If spot elevation was worked for other elevations too, it would be enough.

I don't know why you are having so much trouble. I had none. Now, I did have to use the TAB-Select method since the Level 2 Column overlaps the Level 1 Column. Try pressing the TAB Key.

Out of curiosity, why are you showing Level 1 Columns (and related information) in Level 2 Plan View? It's terribly confusing. More so, if you aren't privy to what the View Range settings are.

What I want to show on LVL2 is the columns sitting on LVL2 and not continuous below as "above" or as a height range. When I click spot elevation my cursor is a stop sign on LVL 2 everywhere on the plan; doesn't select anything.

May be it is because this is my 10th day on trial and I did something I don't know. I will uninstall and install the software again. It should fix any weird settings.

Is the View Detail Level set to Medium or Fine? I also went over this above. Have you read all my replies?
