Thank you so much ToanDN for taking the time out to reply.

It worked well! I took your advice taking sections (due to my curvature) and drawing those reference arches.

See the end result in PictureA.

I moved to the next stage of the video to do with the pattern, with the aim of creating PictureB. I managed to do that as seen in PictureC. (The reference points don't match the form created because I had to adjust the offset of the forms so that they all rested ontop each other.)

I then tried to load the pattern into my project but got an error that it "Can't make type "Rectangle : Family2"" as seen PictureD and PictureE. Any advice? My guess was that it was something to do with the number of gridlines I have for my mass so I changed them from 15 U grids and 6 V grids to 10 U grids and 10 V grids but it didn't work.

Thank you in advance for your replies, much appreciated

Gridshell Roof

Hello! The image below shows the structure for a ski slope on an analysis software. Another image attached shows what a timber gridshell roof is.

I am designing this in Revit. As you can see the roof on this analysis software is a gridshell roof (labelled in purple). It has on been put on the straight part of the structure at the bottom of the ski slope.
The grid shell roof is meant to all the way along the top (see direction of purple arrows) meaning that it curves horizontally and also vertically.

My questions are as follows: Are there any components to use instead of making the timber grid shell from scratch? In the Architecture tab of projects selecting ‘Roof’ there isn’t a grid shell roof and looked to load a component but there isn’t a roof folder.
How would you get the roof to curve horizontally and also vertically? I understand that the ramp tool is a able to do curves.

Thank you in advance!

You need to start by creating a conceptual mass family or an in-place mass. Take a look at this video. I think its nice and it shows a way to do it.

Thanks so much Andrej for taking the time out to reply. Much appreciated.

I have followed the videos steps I just have one item to resolve:

Picture1 and Picture2 shows the issue when I try to create a form with three references. I get an error message which is the item I am trying to resolve. (I already tried displacing the references slightly above columns to see if the voids

intersecting columns was a problem)

Picture 3 and Picture4 shows it working fine with the bottom two references.

Picture5 shows what would happen with the first reference (top of ski slope) and third reference (bottom of ski slope) which isn't the solution I want.

Thank you in advance,

You need more than 3 curves to cover the area nicely. I would have one every two or three bay.
