Having alot of problem trying to add images for render appearances

Hey guys like the title says im having alot of problems with this and have been stuck for a few days now on it. Can someone please give me a detailed breakdown of how to do this.

So i am going into the appearance tab in a material then i am clicking on replace this asset and i cant find my image that i want anywhere?

What is the best way to add this image to revit? so i can use it as a render appearance? Do i have to add it to a folder on my hard drive? Do i need to create a new Library? or can i just upload via revit without having to do all this?

...you do know about the Asset Library, don't you?

...FWIW: Materials use Assets. Assets are where the image is coming from. To add an image to a New Material or change the image of an Existing Material, you assign an Asset to it or replace the one it uses with another. If you cannot find an Asset with an image you like, you can duplicate an existing Asset to create a new Asset and then change its image. This is the process I was speaking about in the thread I Linked you to above.

That is a really hidden feature Autodesk should make that more visible.

I swapped out a few images with jpegs i found on the internet and rendered them to see what they would look like. The quality is terrible , like really bad lol

Best to find 12"x12" swatches - or some image that you pretty much know what its real-world dimensions are. This is so you can scale it properly in the image's Texture Editor. Remember, you are tiling the image.

There's a ton. Just Google for images. I typically go directly to the Manufacturers' websites first. Primary because I want specific product images. Revit has plenty of Generics.

When i put the images in the model there appears to be some kind of white outline around them like they are placed in there as tiles?

What is this and how do i get rid of the white tile outline?
