Check what your lineweight is for Pen #1 for the scale of your view.

Keep in mind...Pen #1 controls pattern weights and Pen #2 controls ceiling patterns. Which is why many start their lineweights at Pen #3.

Here you can see that the floor, brick and earth pattern are too light. How to make them darker.

Make sure that your Graphics Parameters are all set correctly (Properties>Edit Type>Graphics>Foreground Pattern Color/Line Weight etc.) If your hatch patterns has a Line Weight Parameter, you can alter that, or what I normally do is change the Foreground Pattern Color from some shade of Grey to Black. Don't forget, if you don't want the Hatch Pattern to change Project-Wide, duplicate the pattern to create a variation.

Hope this helps.

Do you mean on screen or print-out? The shadow is on so you are printing in raster, the reason for the fainted image. Adjust your printer raster quality / resolution and try different raster quality under Revit printing dialog (Presentation, Medium, etc...)
