Curtain Walls in Revit are a X/Y pattern generator which consists of a kit of parts which have their own collection of parameters. One of the stock Curtain Wall types (Curtain Wall 1) is a single sheet of glass. We cut the glass into sections with the glass cutter which is a Curtain Grid. The panel is a sub-component to represent a glass, solid or even empty panel. It has parameters for thickness and offset for example. These define where the panel is located relative to the wall start and end point. Similarly Mullions have parameters for Depth and Thickness on side 1 and side 2 as well as offset. These allow us to define where the mullion is located and how big it is, its shape. There are different mullion types as well. These define whether it is a corner condition or just a rectangular mullion along the length of the wall.

The mock-up offered in the earlier replies can be resolved to match your requirements merely by editing a few parameters.

I'm still trying to figure out how to model my usual work in Revit. I usually model in Sketchup and Rhino, but am intrigued by Revit's 2d document capabilities. (I use AutoCad for my 2D)

I work in Film/TV. Almost everything I do is custom, and depending on the project could be a storefront or organically shaped spaceship. That said, I'm not doing well with Revit LT. (I have been through tutorials) It is just not a creation system like any that I'm familiar. Anyway, attached is a simple storefront done in Sketchup and Rhino with each individual element built from scratch. SU took 15 minutes and Rhino took 12. How would this be approached in Revit, and how long would an intermediate Revit modeler take to create it, assuming none of the parts exist in the dimensions required?

I appreciate the response, encouragement and tutorial. And will follow it through. However, my piece does not have uniform mullions/uprights. The uprights are 4"x4", and the mullions are 1.75"x4" That was my frustration. The builtin Revit elements do not apply for my work, and finding where to change/create/edit is not obvious, and those that I did find gave me unexpected results.

I've attached a sample file (v2018) to look at. I used Empty Panels for the space under the span of glazing above. I used Add Edit Segments on the Curtain Grid line to remove it under the same span. As @ToanDN suggested I used Make Continuous to change how the mullions clean up with one another.

There are at least a couple other ways to create the center section but this one is pretty quick without knowing more about how it relates to the building around it.

Thanks all. I feel I've gotten enough help now that I should be able to figure it out.

Running through this again. My Revit LT 2020 doesn't seem to have "Empty System Panel as an option.

... hi @CalypsoArt

... most probably issue is that your template is incomplete

... I am attaching all default 2020 templates (metric and imperial)

... templates 2020 link that you can download and replace in:

... pc/c:/program data/autodesk/rvt2020/templates

... after that ...

.... open a new project template (with the ones I'm attaching/uploading)

... go to your original project and in 3dview copy all / everything inside

... now go to the new project template and paste it

... after that go and check the empty panel

... it will be there ...

... also ... to be able to use the empty panel you need to tab into the panel you want to change

... turn it blue ... then you can see the list of options

... and don't forget...
