it hard to understand what you are trying to do. Would make it easier if you named/numbered your points. Hosted points would be named/numbered like their Host but with an extension. For example, if a point is "driven by" point "A", then name that point "A1". Maybe even "A1-z" to indicate the direction (z) that it travels from "A" as well. Just a suggestion.

<STRIKE>For now, could you post a picture diagramming what you want. </STRIKE>

I see that you did post a diagram in your latest post. I think what you are looking for is Point "Rotation" -- a point property. Enter 180 degrees reverse the Z direction. Does that help?

BTW, if it doesn't rotate about the axis you want, that means your point is hosted to the wrong work plane. You need to replace it (e.g. delete and create another one on the right work plane). That's the only solution.

Hi.

I have a problem on my model point offset parameter, as seen in this video that I have created few point snapping on existing point, but when I offset the Height distance in those points, some were going up as expected and some more were going down follow to Z axis which is not my expectation because all points should be the same even up or down.

Please advice me how to solve this issue? and what is usually determine the point direction to facing which side ?

Thanks

Hepi

https://file.io/Mc9Dqz

Just saw a post recently talking about the mass work plane direction something like that.

Maybe we should have an extra tool beside the Show work plane tool - Flip work plane.

Hi @barthbradley

I have been watching this video and trying to remake a new point onto an existing host point, as usually I set the reference plane at the existing point then place a new point. I could not find any different except the Z direction is still the same problem, one face up and other face down.

so far I only found one similar case and idea in youtube :

https://youtu.be/2Td2oRsoj6k

In that video, he fixed it by using another new parameter with (-) negative value to force it located on the same Z direction.

im not sure is it the only way or any other more efficient solution for this situation.

Please advice me further. However I have tried to use flip in property menu, this can enable the coordinate of Z direction turn up, but it didnt make any effect to the offset parameter, it will still go down rather than follow to flip direction.

I just found in here : https://youtu.be/2Td2oRsoj6k

This could be one of the solution and im still looking for the root problem and other way out possibility

pleade advice me further more if you have any idea too, thanks

It looks like you are trying to host a Ref. Point to another Ref. Point so that that Ref. Point's Z offset distance can be associated to a Parameter. I don't know exactly how your family is set up, but it looks like you Hosted a Ref. Point to a Divided Line Node. Is that correct? If so, you just need to Host the next Ref. Point on the correct Work Plane of the first Ref. Point.

That make sense? If not, just post your family and I'll do it.

Enter 180 degrees reverse the Z direction. Does that help?

BTW, if it doesn't rotate about the axis you want, that means your point is hosted to the wrong work plane. You need to replace it (e.g. delete and create another one on the right work plane). That's the only solution.

I have tried to use flip, mirror, rotation angle to turn Z direction, but all are still fail. You can try that family, i have attached it in previous message. naming a point also didnt work for this case

Yes, in curious to turn Z direction up, flip can make it, but flip won’t make any effect to the Z direction travel path when I input the value in parameter if i keep use the same parameter (H_small ; H_mid ; H_big —> parameter) as same as other points, unless I make the same value in negative, please have a look into parameter property, when you change those points to original parameter from (H_small_rev1 ; H_mid_rev1 ; H_big_rev1) return to (H_small ; H_mid ; H_big) then you will see that flip doesnt make the effect at all.

what I actually wish to see is Z direction can be turn the same way for all points and all of them use the same parameter, if it is possible. So when i input any value then everything will run to the same travel path and distance.

for this purpose, flip does not work.

I’ll just use x=-y formula, move them to Other category and create new parameters in Dimensions category.

Like I said earlier, you can't correct it after-the-fact. You need to redo it and put it on the correct work plane.
