For all the views, elevations, sections, you need to recreate all the views in the host model and change views to linked view, like answer 1

Hello, everyone

We have a project that has a host model which includes the site with 3 linked models. Two of the linked models are single family units that mirror each other, the third model is a duplex units. We have set up plans, elevations and sections in the linked models, and we also put in keynotes and other annotation. When we are in the site model, none of that information would display.

Our questions are:

How to make sections and elevations set up in linked models (building models) shown in the host model (the site model)?

How to make keynotes and detail item in the linked models display in the host models?

Do we have to print sheets from 3 separate models? Is there a way to print only from host model?

If you have additional suggestions about Revit workflow for projects with similar situation, feel free to share. Thank you very much!

Hi,

I personally prefer to link the site Revit model to the Revit model I am working on, but it is doable the other way around.

How to make sections and elevations set up in linked models (building models) shown in the host model (the site model)?

After you link the model in the host model, it is better to copy/monitor all the levels and grids first. Then you can create all the plans/elevations/Sections on the host model, but you have to make sure in the Visibility/Graphic-> Revit Links-> Display Settings->Basics, change it to By linked view, under Linked view below, there should be a list of the views created in the linked view, just pick the one you needed.(see attached)

How to make keynotes and detail item in the linked models display in the host models?

Keynotes and detail items should show up by the process above

Do we have to print sheets from 3 separate models? Is there a way to print only from host model?

Not too sure what you want, since you already create all the views same as the linked model, you can print from the host model now.

Hope this help.

Thank you so much! Adjusting the visibility of the linked model works, now all my keynotes and detail items show up. But I was not able to copy/monitor the sections and elevation. Below is my view in linked model, the section and elevation symbols all show up correctly. However, in my host model, after I changed the visibility of Revit link to linked view, elevation and section symbols do not show up. (Please see below) So when I tried to copy/monitor, I don't have anything to select. Do you think I missed a step? Thank you!
