I solved on my own. The suggestions below address how to add or edit title properties, but that was not the question. What needed to be modified was the default tag associated with views. Under "Loaded Tags and Symbols" the tag under "Views" needed to be changed to the view title that had a title.

Thanks.

Hello,

This is related to the template done by the client.

The default view port can't be changed and whenever you drag anew view it will take the same viewport type (which is in your case, without title).

But there is a trick:

assume that the default viewport type is called VP1

1- Duplicate the default viewport type. So you have a new Type. Let's call it VP2

2- Rename the default viewport type VP1 to another new name(VP3). then edit it to show the desired title family.

3-Rename VP2 changing it to VP1.

Now whenever you will add a new view it will take the properties of VP3 which shows a title.

and still you have the VP1.

I hope that above is clear enough.

No need to constantly change the Viewport Type. Just assign View Title to the Viewport that is used. It's a one-time operation.

That is setup by your client, probably with the intention that users need to carefully choose the correct viewport type for each view placed on sheet. It is not uncommon that there are multiple viewport types in a project.

If I were you I would clarify with the client first before set a specific viewport with a specific view title as default.

you are correct in that you need to assign a view title to viewport type. But where in Revit is the setting to for when you drag a view onto a sheet, which viewport type does it choose to use?

I have tried the "loaded tags and symbols" but that does not change anything for me?

Revit is set to no title as default. You have to rename the no title as title, and the title as no title. then change the parameter title to match. Stupid but it works!
