What you changed is the scale of CAD file.

You need to change the scale of the drafting view.

go to the view and in properties change view scale.

Change scale to what? Actually you would need to do both, for instance set view scale from 1:50 to 1:100 and scale import factor to 2 instead of 1. Or you can scale the .dwg drawing in other ways aswell...

I think it would be better to have his cad file 1:1 then do the required scaling in the drafting view scale.

Ofcourse, but apparently it's not...you can also set custom scale in relation to different import scale factors in case you don't have the tools to scale it 1:1 elsewhere that is.

@Anonymous

You use that to scale imported / linked CAD to match or achieve the appropriate Scale of the view. Sometimes you received from other consultants several DWG with various scales...in order to save time and not open those file in their native software (example: AutoCAD/sketchup/Rhino) and Rescale / Save and Load into Revit, they provided this option 🙂(Sometimes you don't even have those software to scale the details)

this way if you receive a detail 1/10 CAD which you want to use on a 1/5 Revit Drafting view, you simply add a scale factor to the imported CAD...

You can also just scale it using scale function (shortcut RE) apparently, and then set the view scale for the drafting view. Didn't know that, I always try to import drawings scale 1:1 anyway 😉

I think it is what you are saying, but just to recap then. The dwg drawing itself doesnt change, just its dimensions multiplied by import factor. If you would import the same drawing with different import factor it's just larger/smaller in relation to the selected view scale. But like I said, if you know a dimension you can also scale(RE) the dwg to the correct size for the view scale and place it on a sheet ie.

Revit uses the scale factor you used the first time.

Example: when you import a CAD file X which uses Feet to a Revit project using Millimeter...you set the Scale Factor one time and you can then use the CAD file X on any drafting view with any view scale

The answer really was in post #5 though imho^^. The question was to change scale of the linked dwg but stay the same on sheet.

@RDAOU Ps. I got what RE does, checked if import scale changed with that first thing:)...just always had the imports 1:1 with same units actually as far as I know 😄
