View template without including the assosiated level?

It turns out that if i take a view template which i made working on level 3 and apply on other level, it's actually change the displayed level so level 4 view becomes the actual level 3 view.

I looked over the View templates window and didn't find "associated level"

So how can i take all view properties from view to view WITHOUT change the displayed level?

Remove View Range from the template.

Your view range has level 3 assigned to it. You might be able use associated level and level above instead and still use the view range in the view template for other levels.

like @RDAOU & @Anonymous suggest, i have View range turned off in most or my VT's too. there are too many cases where the user needs to adjust it to see different things in there plan. But if you wanted to use it, the View type filter the VT was made from can make difference. For example, a VT made from a Reflected Ceiling Plan defaults to Level above. a VT made from a Plan is defaulted to Associated level. Revit does not stop you from applying the "wrong" view template type to a view.

i remember having this issue a long time ago. Have your VT's been imported from an older version of Revit? i am using 2020.2.1 and when making a VT in a fresh project file, using an OTB template, it is set to Associated level.

After unchecking view range from the view template, you need to set the view range according to the associated level for the view.

You have already applied the view template with the view range checked...unchecking doesn't reset the view to it's default or previous settings, you will have to fix it manually to the desired view range or the desired "Primary Range Top/Cut/Bottom"

i didn't mean that i opened VG again and then unchecked the "include".
What i did is UNDO the applying of the view template, and applied it again, without including the view range.

i have actually made a "_RESET" view template that has Include checked for everything and everything turned On. it comes in very handy for situations like this :-).

If it's a linked file check if your Revit Links view range is by host view range. You can choose to include Revit links settings in a template.

Post an image of the View Range settings in Host model and tell us

- what type of view is it in the Host model (plan or RCP)

- what is the Discipline set for the view

- what do you want to see and it is not showing?

(Note: If you are trying to show HVAC in plan view, you should note that HVAC views are technically an RCP - so view the range of a Plan View might in the host model may not be suitable to show HVAC elements from the linked model unless discipline is set to coordination and a similar model line trick to that which you sent via PM is used)
