A roof sketch (along with any sketch of an extrusion such as a floor, wall profile, etc.) must be one closed shape. This means, as your images show, lines cannot intersect each other except at corners. To make the octagonal roof shape, use the lines you have drawn as one roof, then make the roof around it (the larger, more rectilinear roof) a separate roof sketch.</P><P>An easy way to do this is to cut one of the roof shape's lines to your clipboard, then finish the first roof's sketch.
