I am currently in the middle of a university project on Revit 2020, but when I tried to save the file it came up with the 'file not saved' dialog box. When I looked up some of the solutions, most of them said that I probably had to close the program in order to fix it. However, my project hasn't been saved for a couple of weeks, so if I do this, a lot of my work will be lost.

Is there anyway I can fix the problem without having to close the program?

Also, I am using Windows via Boot Camp on a 2017 iMac

It is the Educational version that is free for university students. I am still logged in, and it is not a workshared file. It is saved locally to my C: drive. I have read through that guide you posted earlier, and in order to update the software, it means restarting my computer. However, if I do this, I will lose my work.
