Hi, I'm trying to make a schedule to verify if my doors and windows are up to the minimum required for light and ventilation.

First of al, i did two separate schedules, one for windows (Janelas) and another for doors (Portas). Does it is possible to merge them both?

The main problem is related to rooms with multiple doors/windows in which I need to compare the total room area (in the first case below - 6,42m² marked in blue) with the Column K (Needed Ventilation Area), which is the Column G (room area) divided by column E (Light Coefficient). This comparison will give me ATENDE ("PASS") or NÃO ATENDE ("FAIL") at columns J and L for both light and ventilation. through the formula "if(Área das Janelas > Iluminação Exigida, "ATENDE, "NÃO ATENDE")"

How can I do it work properly?

Here is my project the way it is now: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tku1bf80g73h225/EngenhaBIM-light%20and%20vent%20verification.rvt?dl=0

Thanks,

Renan

HI @renan.jose ,

1. In order for you to combine the two schedule you can use "multi-category" schedule. The thing is you have to assign a parameter value that can be found for both doors and windows so you will be able to filter them.

For example you can utilize the "Comments" parameter field and input "For Light and Ventilation" to use it as a condition to filter the elements.

2. In order for you to include the total area in your formula, you may follow the concept on the image below:

You need to add two calculated parameters ("percentage from Total Area per room" and "Total Area")

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Dar

Hello Darwin, thanks for your help. The individual checkings for door and window tables are now working fine but I couldn't merge those two properly into a single multiple category table. When I try to do it some of the properties like width and height from the doors and windows aren't showed.

How can i make a schedule of all the doors and windows showing their respective width and height?

Thanks!

Also, I don't know how to integrate the coefficient values (columns F and G) cuz i had to create 2 for windows (light and vent) and 2 for doors (light and vent) for each table (door and windows) but I need somehow to unify those coefficients so they can work for both at the same time into the bottom multicategory table.

PS: I did filter the multicategory table for the comentary "VENTILAÇÃO" (ventilation) at column P so I can isolate only the elements (doors and windows) that should be in this multicategory table.

Thanks,

Renan

Width and Height will not show in the multi-category schedule for Doors and Windows. The workaround is to add shared parameter inside the family.

2. In multi-category, "Rooms" parameters is associated to "To Rooms" for Doors and Windows. If you want to show the values correctly you need to have a consistent "orientation" of the family in the family editor.

3. I have created some tips on how to do this in the link below. You may also check the Revit file inside to see the shared parameters (algura and largura) added for doors and windows. You can use this as reference.

I hope this help.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/o0lodcmd4sy6v11/Renan%20Jose.zip?dl=0

Regards,

Dar

Amazing solution! how can I change room name for windows and doors that are associated with the wrong area? In the individual schedules I can select the right room but in the multicategory, this option isn't allowed at all, I mean, there is no dropdown selection for this field on the multicategory. By the way, both schedules shouldn't share the same properties? I mean, why the same window is set to "Cozinha sala de jantar" (Kitchen/Dinner Room) in the window table (Tabela de Janelas) and set to "Corredor ext. Esquerdo" (External Left Corridor) in the multicategory?

Thanks VM,

Do I need to change add those shared properties for each door and window family individually or there is a way to add to all doors and windows families at once? Since Altura and Largura are just "height" and "width" for Revit in the Brazilian version when I insert them it asks if I want to replace the original properties. Does it is safe to do and maintain BIM compatibility with other softwares or I should try new property names like "table height" and "table width"?

Thanks,

Hi @renan.jose ,

@renan.jose wrote:

This is because of how you created the family. If you have to go to family editor for doors and windows there's a room calculation point arrow. I also explained it on the powerpoint slide from my previous reply. Your family orientation should be consistent to get the correct room.

In multi-category there is no "From Room" and "To Room" unlike from Doors and Windows schedules. The "Rooms" in the multi-category should be the same on where the calculation point is pointing to.

Regards,

Darwin

For built in parameters, Revit will not allows to replace it. And it will not affect any BIM compatibility with other softwares. If you open it to Navisworks, it will always read all the parameters you inserted in the element.
