I don't do stairs (or materials) but you need to somehow demolish the existing material and add the new material in the new phase.

Hi,

I have an existing stairs that I want to keep, but to add a new finish to it in the proposed floor plan view.

The existing floor plan shows the existing green carpet as, Phase-Existing, Phase Filter-Show All, which is correct.

I duplicated (with detailing) the existing floor plan view so now I have an additional view called proposed floor plan, Phase-New Construction, Phase Filter-Show Previous and New.

Here, I want to keep the existing stairs but give it a new brown carpet. I duplicated the existing stairs and called it new stairs; Edit the new stairs, edit type, materials and finishes, duplicate material, duplicate asset and select a new fabric material for my brown carpet.

However, while this shows the new brown carpet in the proposed floor plan, the existing carpet in the existing floor plan view has changed to a brown carpet as well.

Can someone tell me how to prevent this from happening? Thanks.

Did you duplicate the "Material" as well as the Stair Type. I suspect you made a duplicate Stair Type and then edited the material in that Stair- if so, your Existing Stair type is also accessing that edited Material.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I duplicated the Material as well as the Stair Type.

I brought the new stairs into another file and made the colour change there which worked.

However when I try to copy and paste it back into the original file, Revit prompts "The following Types already exist but are different. The Types from the project into which you are pasting will be used".

This I don't want.

I know you said you duplicated the Asset, but it sounds to me like the two materials are still sharing the same Asset. Can you verify that each material is assigned a different Asset?

This is what I did. I deleted the existing stairs and started over. Once I verified I was in Phase:Existing, I added in the existing stairs again. Then I copied and pasted it into the same position. Revit creates the copy as 'New Construction' automatically. Now I edit the copy, duplicate it and rename it to New Stairs Carpet. Then I Edit the New Carpet Stairs, Edit Type, Materials and Finishes, select my new 'Fawn' Material that I have created in the materials library, for the Tread. Similarly the Riser. In Appearance tab, select the 'Fawn' fabric from the library, click 'Duplicate this asset'. When I click the green tick mark, the New Stairs Carpet is now a fawn colour. However, when I go back to the existing plan view, the existing stairs has changed colour from its green carpet to fawn as well.

Did you Duplicate the Stair Type -- AND the RUN and LANDING (if applicable) Types used by the Stair Type?

Hi,

I am having trouble printing to PDF from RevitLT 2020.

I have tried cutepdf writer, Foxit Phantom PDF, doPDF, all with the same result.

I have tried everything, checking for updates, rebooting, auditing the Revit LT file, vector or raster printing.

Please see attached screenshot.

One view on the sheet prints fine but the other 3 do not.

I created a new sheet and brought the views into it in a different layout format on the sheet.

The same result.

Can someone please help?

Thanks.
