Missing Contour Lines

Hello,

I'm trying to sort out why only some of the contour lines from my .dwg get put into a topography model when I use massing and site. See images below to understand what I mean, each has a caption to better explain.

this is where you define your contour lines/ intervals. This is what you're talking about, isn't it?

No, I know how to set my distances. 'EDIT: What I have set in Revit matches my settings for the .dwg file. Both 5' intervals. Am I missing something? Very new to this so wouldn't be shocked if its something basic.'

What I'm not understanding is why when I create a toposurface from an imported .dwg file it does't seem to transfer the contour lines appropriately.

The first image is Revit grabbing all contour lines from my .dwg and creating points on them but then what I actually get after clicking 'done' is very different (image 2).

Here's the .dwg, use the 'Contour Lines' layer for your import.

Looks the same as mine.
Cause your actual 3D form is only showing the black contour lines, correct?

try this:

1. In DWG, select a polyline segment.

2. Note the Elevation of the polyline segment

3. Change the color of the polyline segment (e.g. Red)

4. Save

5. Insert dwg into Revit project

6. Go to Manage tab=>Coordinates=Specify Coordinates at Point

7. Pick the "Red" polyline segment in the dwg (Step #3).

8. Type in the Elevation noted in Step #2

9. Create Toposurface from Import

.dwg was created by exporting from Sketchup.
No way for me to make a polyline.

What are you taking about? I mentioned nothing about Sketchup or about "creating" anything. Read again. And after you create the Toposuface, it's all about Contour Lines and Interval setting as I originally told you. You can get the contours to line up exactly like is shown in your dwg -- if you really want. I wouldn't bother myself. They are not standard intervals.

Oh, are you saying you don't have AutoCAD? If so, forget that part. It's all about placing the Toposurface at the correct Elevation in Revit and changing the Contour Lines/Intervals under Site Settings.

Yes. That is what I was saying, no AutoCAD here.
Is there an easier way to make sure the elevation comes in properly for the .dwg other then changing the height on every individual point?

You don't change the height on every individual point. Where did that come from? I'm lost.

Do you realize that one of your contours is at an elevation of 149.125? This is very strange. I've been doing this for 30 years, so know strange. But, I guess it could be right. That's for you to determine.

The only way I know of setting the elevation for topography (in Revit) is when you're creating a new toposurface from points.

How do I set the base elevation for a whole toposurface? Or whatever it is that your suggesting here: "It's all about placing the Toposurface at the correct Elevation in Revit.."

And yes, I do know that its a strange height and that they should be whole numbers. This whole thing was meant to be a quick (ha!) test of how to create a toposurface in Sketchup (from a method I used to make site models) and get it into Revit. I'm clearly new to Revit's topography features and am just trying to understand them/if I'm successful at what I'm attempting to do, but became confused about the contour line differences from one to the other.

I don't know what the 149.125 is in the real world. If you don't know, and it doesn't matter to your planning, then leave it be. Just create the Toposurface and don't label the Contour Lines or place Spot Elevations on the surface.
