how to modify fill pattern on floors

hello,

In the project I am working on, I have a floor finish plan, where I want to visually show the different floors, their alignment and orientation throughout the building. I set it up so that each room has interior finish text info in the properties menu. So I type in all of the different finishes in that room (such as GWB on each wall, carpet floor, ACT ceiling), which is then linked to a room finish schedule. I am using a custom view template, with a colour scheme to assign different floor types to different rooms (carpet, tile, wood, etc.). Then within that colour scheme, I assign a fill pattern to represent the different types of flooring. So when I type into the properties that the floor in room A has carpet, this gets added to a schedule, and the fill pattern appears on the floor plan.

The problem, is that as far as I can tell, I cannot edit the way that the flooring is shown on the plan. So I cant select the pattern like model lines, and move or rotate them as desired (like you could with ceiling tiles on a reflected ceiling plan). Is there a way to edit the fill pattern on the floor? Or perhaps there's a better way of doing this?

Color Scheme Fill Patterns are Drafting Patterns.

What about a Floor Finish Color Scheme using Colors and/or Fills?

so your using a Color fill schedule to place the floor pattern i the rooms, correct? you also want to be able to align the patterns as needed in each room?

if that's the case i don't think you can. The pattern placement in the Color Legend cant be adjusted like it can be if you use a floor with a pattern on it.

You can go to Manage Tab=>Additional Settings=>Fill Patterns to create new Fill Patterns (Drafting Type) to use in your Color Scheme key.

Room Color schemes use drafting patterns so you can only use them to indicate different floor types, not the actual floor patterns. For such, you need to use one of the follows:
- split face the floor an paint each area with a material
- create parts from the floor and change parts materials
- draw thin finish floors with different materials
- draw model pattern filled regions

So I think that is what I am doing, so if I understand, this method means thats a drafting pattern, which means I cannot move the lines around like with model lines?

Oh I see... so if I wanted to control the pattern of the floor in each room, I would need to make different floor types, and put different floors in each room? Is there a way to just add a hatch to the floor somehow?

We typically use the "draw thin finish floors with different materials" method in my office. 🙂

A Color Scheme is just a key. Why are you concerned with the alignment of the Fill Pattern? Why does it matter?

You could put a Filled Region in each room if you prefer. A Filled Region would only be visible in the view it was placed in. if you use a Model pattern as the filled region, you should be able to adjust it as needed. it would take almost the same amount of work as placing a floor with a material (my preferred method).

So I like the idea, and I am trying to do it this way, but is there a way to make the pattern with model lines? I want to be able to align and rotate the pattern as needed directly on the plan, but cant figure it out.

Surface Patterns are coming from the Graphic Properties of the Material the element is using. If you use Model-type Patterns you can align those types.

From the Architectural ribbon > Model panel > pick Model Lies...
