Hello people.

I'm trying to copy an element from level to level while keeping it's elevation relative to new level, but Revit insist keeping the reported level on the same level it was copied from?

Not so simple to understand? i've made a screencast:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd-yGMl9C08

It seems you try to copy a hosted element and you try to copy it without the hosting element. That might give some issues with finding the right elevation.

And indeed hosted elements have the Schedule Level parameter (instead of the Level parameter like other elements).

As this is just a schedule parameter, Revit decides not to change that during copying (because you are creating a copy). So this is by design.

This means you will have to adjust the value(s) afterwards if important to you.

Also see THIS page.

No, it mentions that not changing the Schedule Level parameter is by design.

And your issues are one of the reason I tend to limit the use of hosted elements. In most cases I only use hosted elements on elements that I am in control of (e.g powersocket on cable trunking). This means in most cases when copying I will copy the host and the hosted elements together. In many cases I use just unhosted elements.

Of course some elements needs hosts (e.g windows and doors)

You could also create a section view to see all the elements you have copied and select them and change the Schedule Level and any other level realated parameters you may have creared

Could be a couple of things...

First, the original element is hosted to a element in a link, a similar host may not be found when pasting. (could depend on linked model).

Second, the "Schedule Level" parameter, is that actually the builtin one, because it's under "Other" and not under "Constraints". In default Specialty equiment that parameter doesn't exist, a generic model family converted to that category does but is often locked out depending it's host behaviour.

So maybe just text in a user created parameter is being copied?

Maybe share that family?

- Michel

ps. Revit 2019? (was Schedule Level even introduced in that version?)

Darn, just notice it's a old post.
