NIC hatching

Hi All,

We frequently indicate the scope of our work within a building with hatching that indicates the areas that are "Not In Contract" (NIC). I'm finding this to be more difficult than I would have thought in Revit.

Hatched Regions can only be applied to current view
Hatched Regions as a Group (one for each level). This is better because at least it can be edited, then updated in all views. Still, for a very large project, it's unmanageable to insert into every view.
A color scheme using hatches instead of colors is any option BUT, color schemes can’t be applied to RCP views so we could never indicate the hatch scope on our RCP plans.
I thought of using an in-place 3D object that is transparent that would show as hatched when cut (that way, it would look identical on plan and on RCP). This works but is very complicated and would require a separate workset so it could be unloaded by our team of consultants if necessary.
Linking an AutoCAD drawing would work but the complications of keeping the AutoCAD drawing up-to-date with Revit seems like too much extra work.

I'm hoping somebody out there has found a simpler way. Pleeeeease!

Maybe through Phasing (Phase Filters/Graphic Overrides)?

NIC areas are usually static thus not requiring frequent, or any, updates. You also can copy/paste to multiple views if there happens to be a change in scope. It's usually only necessary to draw them once and then paste them into the other views.

I either use a Room color scheme or an Area color scheme to overlay on the ceiling plan on the same sheet.

Hi Toan,

I like your idea. So far I've have applied a color scheme to a view but apparently that not the view that is shown when I choose to show an underlay! How can you control what is shown in an underlay? It sure would be nice to be able to directly apply a view template to an underlay to eliminate the guess work.

Not Underlay. You would have to place the two views on the same place on sheet.
