Fascia won't connect when flipped

I get that I have to do the fascia all in one shot. that is not the trouble. The trouble is

I am not able to get the fascia to connect when the orientation is flipped so that the exterior most face aligns with the edge of the roof I am assigning the fascia to. Am I crazy or is this not possible?

Could be any number reasons. Post the file.

Out of curiousity, why don't you just redo it and pick the correct edge to follow?

...I think your profile is drawn wrong. Edit Profile may be the fastest and easiest way to fix.

Fascia normally cover the edge of the roof. If it flush with the roof edge then why don't you just paint the roof edges? Or your fascia is below the roof like a drip edge?

cause we are doing built up fascia and roofs cant support alternative edge profiles. Unless I am missing something.

Then I think you need to edit the fascia profile and flip it along the vertical ref plane. In other word, the profile stays on the host side.

There is only ever 1 edge that you can pick with a roof the outermost edge. I have tried to pick a wall but fascia wont allow that. have to post a dummy file for copy write reasons.

I am using the stock profile provide by revit it shouldn't be the problem. At least I don't think it should.

Are you saying that you want to EMBED the Fascia???

....what do you mean by "built-up fascia"? Got a picture?

The stock profile is intended for the fascia to stay over the roof edge, not buried in it. You've got to edit the profile as I said in the previous post.

@Anonymous: if you literally mean that you want to embed the fascia, then don't literally embed the fascia into the roof geometry. Create a cavity for it. Forget the Fascia tool. Use an In-Place Sweep Solid for the Fascia and a similar shaped Void Sweep to cut the cavity out of the roof.

here is a file showing what is happening. In one I have used the standard profile from revit and did not invert it but it is still not connecting on the inner most board. The other I have used a profile that I created and it is also not connecting. I appreciate any help you can give me on this one.

I would use the Soffit tool for this.

...or easier would be In-Place Sweep. Do you have Model In-Place?

I am modeling the roof as 5/8" sheathing only. this is going to be a raised heal truss system. I like the idea of cutting the profile I could maybe make that work if I was building the roof like I have it in the example I sent you. I kinda muffed that up.

I don't think it's MUBAR … Muffed Up Beyond All Repair. Use another approach to do the Fascia. F*ck the Fascia tool. Pardon my French.

I'm still not clear about what you're modeling. Can you post a cross-section detail or a photograph of what you are trying to model.
