Thank you very much guys! It seems to be a bug and the solution is how @syman2000 decribed. Without surface pattern it does not work.

Hello guys,

I created a railing component and assigned a material to some part of it. In Family looks everything fine but when I load it to the model, I can't see the hatch patterns in section view. In 3D I can see material but patterns are not shown.

Thanks for help

I run into the same issue. To overcome this, I usually place the surface patter to be the same as cut.

As a result, you will see the pattern to show up

Likely the Family Material is named the same as a Project Material and the Project Material does not have Cut Pattern assigned to it. In that case, the Project Material always rules. Families use the Project's Materials. Best way to deal with this is to name the Family Material something else -- a name not used by a Project Material.

Railings is a non-cutable category so you will not see the material cut pattern. Either fake it with the surface pattern as suggested, or use a curtain wall instead of a railing.

Hello,

thanks for help 🙂 You are using an old Version Revit, which has only one Option for Patterns. In Revit 2020 they made it as foreground and Background. There is a definitely a bug there.. If I Change pattern of foreground like you did, I see in section but actually it has to be shown what we assign in section pattern.

I see no BUG! in your latest screenshot. In fact, it looks like Revit is working perfectly.

The below screenshots show that the Family's "Rail Material" Cut Pattern is shown differently in the Project for the reason I explained previously. Project Materials Always Rule. These screenshots also clearly show that the Material's Cut Pattern is displayed for Railing Component in Section Views - 2D and 3D.

IN FAMILY ENVIRIOMENT:

IN PROJECT ENVIRONMENT:

Hello,

thanks for screenshots. In yourside it works but I tell you what I have done.

I edited the family document which has category "vertikale Holme" and then I created an extrusion as Fundament. I created a new parameter called "Material Fundament" I assigned the material to extrusion and load it to project. Without Foreground pattern it did not work in Family document. If I change the foreground material like in cut pattern it works, however only cut pattern does not work.

Sorry for missunderstanding. I wanted to mean surface foreground. I assigned only cut pattern not surface. When I assign a surface foreground pattern it works, as I wrote before. The problem is when I assign only cut pattern.

I changed my strategy and I created a profile for railing with same material. It works.

Did you check your visibility graphics and object style (/material) overrides for the section? edit: never mind I think.

Yes, I did. Even if I override it with a pattern, it does not apply.

Thank you very much guys! It seems to be a bug and the solution is how @syman2000 decribed. Without surface pattern it does not work.
