Consider you have big size plan. So you can not show in one sheet, in that case you separate part wise using scopbox as per project need.

I don't think you understand the question, I wasn't asking how scope boxes work, so let me rephrase: Why do scope box visibility settings for a view have no effect on sections associated to it (just grids/levels/refplanes...)

It doesn't make sense to me that it does not control section visibility aswell for sections associated to it.

I thought scope box visibility is meant to show or hide it in certain view. It has nothing to do with cropping applicable elements.

Yes correct, show/hide it in a certain view. "It" being grids/levels/refplanes, why not sections? The question is not so much about cropping really, let me try and think of a situation to explain what I mean. It's not related to something I'm currently working on fyi, just a question in general.

*bump* as unresolved versions 2020/2021/2022, scope box visibility states for associated sections.

Scope boxes are automatically visible in 3d views and other views where they intersect the view cut plane.
The current state is shown in the Automatic Visibility column. Associated datums are visible in 2d views where their scope box is visible.
Use the override column to change the visibility of a scope box and its associated references in individual views.

Why would it affect associated levels, horizontal plan cut view if you will, and not its associated sections, aka vertical cut views. Maybe I'm missing something. Perhaps it's just me thinking there should be at least one proper method of controlling visibility throughout an entire project, not messing about with filters in view templates or whatever...

Yes, I need this too. I have the same sections for Architectural and Structural but I do not want both section references displayed and was hoping to just assign a scope box but it didn't work! It makes sense if you could use the scope boxes that way because hiding and unhiding is tedious.

And I would also like to be able to set the default to be invisible or visible each time I make a new scope box.
