Revit 2019 and 2024 IFC problem

When combining our exported IFC model with those from external companies in BIMcollab Zoom and Solibri, our model was positioned at incorrect coordinates (different from the ones we have in Revit). Could the issue be related to different Revit versions? We are using Revit 2019, which lacks the 'Export IFC Coordinates' option, while our colleagues are using Revit 2024. When one of them upgraded our model to Revit 2024 and then exported the IFC, everything was positioned correctly.

Hi @ivan_picuric,

I don't have any R2019 installed anymore, but I think the Custom IFC exporter also then had a option to select the Origin of export (Project Base Point, Shared Coordinates).

The newer versions have more options, like Survey Point with or without Angle rotation etc...

How should the model be exported, from it's Project base point, or Shared Coodinates (with or without angle?)

The IFC model should be exported using the Project Base Point (PBP). However, there is no direct option for this in Revit 2019. Could it be that this version has some default settings in the code? Both we and our external colleagues have the same project base point set in Revit. But when they export from Revit 2024 (with PBP) and we export from Revit 2019, the models do not align.

now i remember i had this issue too,but i can't say what version was,i use the all model in empty simple file as links in correct coordinates, as 0,0 and make the IFC.

Below a screenshot I found online from R2019:

In the Settings there should be a Project Origin option.

If not, what's the Exporter version used?

Also here's a link where the latest Custom Revit IFC Exporter can be downloaded For R2019:

The download is at the bottom of the page, take the *.msi and install it.

There is no this option in Revit 2019 by default. I will try to download latest Revit IFC Exporter.

The newer versions of Revit (from 2022 I think) already comes with the custom IFC exporter.

Only newer versions of the Custom IFC exporter need to be installed for those.

Check regularly on https://github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifc for updated versions.

I tried using this IFC exporter, but it still places the model at incorrect coordinates when joined with other models in BIM Collab Zoom...

Does the R2019 model have correct coordinates set does it have a site that matches the site of the other model?

I assume shared coordinates are used, and also set in the IFC exporter options?

The model has the correct coordinates, and when our partner from the other studio upgrades to Revit 2024 and exports the IFC, it aligns perfectly—the model is positioned correctly. However, when we export from our Revit 2019 and then import the IFC into BIMcollab, it ends up positioned slightly lower than it should be.

Aha, lower.

In Revit 2019 also check the option "Include IFCSite elevation in the site local placement origin" (or something like that) it should be in the Advanced tab of the IFC exporter setup
