Light fixtures won't connect to switches

I have a ceiling plan showing light fixtures and switches. I can't select a switch for a light fixture. When I select edit switch system and click select switch, the switches all grey out. The light switches were downloaded as lighting devices and the switch ID is editable. The lights were downloaded as lighting fixtures and switch ID is greyed out. I'm just trying to produce the dashed lines between the switch and fixture, no labeling. I've been googling this issue and nothing is working. I am a student and not the best with revit. I am not able to upload the document because it is a real building and goes against the residence privacy requests. I am able to upload images if needed.

maybe a dumb question, but you sure the switch is classified as a Switch in the family?

Have you tried using a plan view, instead of the ceiling plan to do this?

If you see the same behavior in a plan view, I would suggest creating a new project (using the electrical template), and see if you can reproduce the issue.

If you can, it would be helpful if you could post the new project (which doesn't have the sensitive info).
If you cannot, then look for differences between the new and original project (possibly using View Templates to save, and apply view settings between the projects, Transfer Project Standards can be used to copy the View Templates between projects).

The light fixture family needs to have a Connector. If you got the family from the Architectural library then they usually don't come with connectors. Get then from the MEP library instead or edit the family and add the connector yourself.

i know you said you cant upload the file. but can you copy the file and delete everything but the light, wall and switch and upload that? delete all the Project Information too if you like :-).

@ToanDN i thought so to, that was going to be my first question. but when i deleted the connector from my family it still acts as a switch.

I was able to find a light switch that would connect to the fixtures on revit city, but the dashed lines still aren't showing up. I can see it when it's selected but then they disappear. I can tab and select just the line but I'm not sure what to do to make is stay.

This is starting to sound like a visibility issue (i.e. the connector is there, but not displayed in the view).

I went through the checklist and I'm not seeing any visibility issues. I've attached the switch and light that I'm trying to show are connected if anybody wants to take a crack at it.

This is how it looks on my end. But the line disappears when its not selected. Its not even labeled as a wire. I'm running out of time on this project and I have no clue what I'm doing, so I think I'm just going to draw all the lines in. Thanks for trying everybody 👍

Hey there! Same problem here! What type of circuit and how did you create it? I have mi switch connected to the panel, the switch system connecting to the light but can't figura how to make the wiring show
