How to set default Viewport title and position?

Question 1: How to set default Viewport title

I want very simple viewport titles on sheets, one with just the view name, and one with view name and scale.

So, step one, create two new families, one with scale, one without (because apparently "visible" family parameter doesn't work for viewport title labels, either as an instance or type parameter).
Load them into project.
Create new viewport types with new families.
Try inserting another view onto a sheet and... It's using the default one.
Try purging it. Doesn't work.

Question 2: How to set default Viewport title position?

Can it be set that it's always above inserted view?

1. Did you select the viewport and swap it with CM_No scale?

2. As long as the custom family you have have the same origin point as original default view title, the family should remain at the same location.

I misread your question. If you have family, you have to go to the families in the project browser. Browser and find your view title family, in there you should double click and change the setting to make your object show or not show. However if you set your family object visibility set as instance where you can turn on/off without creating type, this won't work. It has to be type parameter.

Yes, but the next one uses the default "Title w line", change that one, insert another, again with the default.

OK, I can insert them all, select them all and change all at once. That's not such a big issue.

The fact that I can't purge the one that's not used anywhere irks me, but, oh well...

However, manually moving every one of them to above viewport does get tedious. Any idea how default position could be changed?

Default position will change if you place the view into sheet without adjusting the crop boundaries first. Most often you will see the view title place below the view. Once you adjust the crop later, the view title won't adjust it automatically.

1st thing 1st. Visibility parameters work in a View Title family. You just need to create them as Type, not Instance, parameters. Then create different View Title types within one family. Then create different viewport types using those view title types.

Location: when you place a view, the title is place at the bottom left below the view crop, or the annotation crop if it is activated. If you need it to be above the view then you have to manually move it after placing the view.

You're right! I did try as Type parameter, but obviously messed up something along the way. It works!

If you need it to be above the view then you have to manually move it after placing the view.

The most correct thing is to change the Revit settings and not duplicate
