I would like to copy the tags from a different project to the project i'm currently working on right now. I did the Transfer Project Standards already but it didn't really copy the tag notes from the other project. How do I copy that? If there is no way of doing that, how do I add tag notes in my project? Currently when I do tag by category, the text just shows a question mark.

I think the parameter in the fixture is not populated with a value so the tag can’t display the value.

You are likely missing a Project Parameter or Shared Parameter in your model that the Tag is using.

when you did a Transfer Project Standard what categories did you select?

It that a Type Mark or mark label? Probably the problem isn´t exactly on the tag, but the information on your family.

I suggest you click on edit family to see what label is on the tag and come back to input the necessary information. Would be faster to input those on schedules.

To identify the parameter that is being read by the tag, go through the following steps:

Select the tag.

Edit the family and then select the label.

Edit the Label.

Once you have identified the parameter that is being used (in the example above it is Type Mark), cancel editing the label.

Go back to the project.

Select the object you are tagging.

Review the properties (Instance or Type) for the item you are tagging and ensure that the parameter has a value set.

Are trying to get the value in the tag such as the "M26" value for the toilet? If so those values exist in the element your tagging not in the tag, in this instance from the toilet. Look at the Type / Instance Properties of the toilet in the original project and you should find a value that reads "M26", that's the perimeter that populates the tag, you would have to apply that value to the same parameter in your current project. Tags read from parameters in the tagged element, they are not text.

Most people have a family library for easy insertion or they have them in their project template so that they are preloaded into any project started with that template.

You would need to have a view with the tags that you want to copy placed in it, then a copy/paste into a similar view will get the families into your new project.

Assuming you're interested in having a "library" of those tags, "harvest" the families by, viewing in the Project Browser > Families, using right click > Save Family to save the family to a folder of your choosing. Then you can use Load Family and select all the families in the folder to add them to any other project you need them in. As mentioned earlier, you need to consider that the tags might use/refer to shared/project parameters that will also need to be defined in project so the tags will work. Ideally you'd put all of the tags in your project template(s) so that task isn't necessary very often.
