Solution:

I had to create a drafting view and place the images into the drafting view. Then place view onto sheet.

In the drafting view you can set the visual style.

If you place the image directly on the sheet there is no option to change the visual style.

If you print Hidden Line style it distorts the linework for some reason. This must be set to Wireframe.

How can I improve the print quality of raster images from Revit?

Background: I have door details in PDF format inserted onto a sheet for reference.

The raster image looks legible on the screen (regardless of thin lines or not).

The raster image settings are 600DPI quality.

The printer settings are 600DPI quality.

The print settings are presentation quality. I have tried both vector and raster settings as well.

Even with all settings, when the raster images is printed to PDF it is no longer legible (regardless of color or black and white). In fact, the text and linework is completely distorted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This particular instance is in Revit 2020, but I have come across this issue in multiple versions when printing inserted images.

Do you have the original image? What is the DPI on that image? If the image has low DPI, there is nothing you can do to make it high quality. You have to output the original image to 600DPI and when you print, it will output the same.

Ok that makes sense. I am not sure how to tell what the original quality is in Bluebeam, but I did a test print from Bluebeam to Bluebeam with the sizing the same on the A0 sheet and it does not print poorly.

I would imagine that even if the image is only 300DPI, 150DPI or 72DPI it should not be distorting and breaking up the linework the way it prints from Revit? I am also shrinking the raster images from original size, not making them larger...
