I currently have a Revit template developed for my company, which I need to apply to all models we receive (created by external parties). This template contains sheets with all necessary settings for exporting a set, and due to confidentiality reasons, it cannot be shared.

My question is, what is the best workflow in this case?

Transfer project standards to the model received by external parties?

Link the received model to a new project with the template applied, bind it, and ungroup?

Copy and paste the received model into a new project with the template?

I've found similar questions, but they are quite old. I’m wondering if there’s a more concrete recommendation nowadays.

Thanks!

For basic category management, such as on/off in views, you can use placeholder linked files in your template/projects to preset view template controls as well as applying filters. The placeholder allows you to configure each view template for a linked file that you will later replace with an actual file from a consultant. The changes you preset should be maintained for the new version of the placeholder.

However if you override the RVT using By Linked View you won't find that to be stable. The more you can control the RVT link at the top level of category control (hosts settings) the more reliable it will be.

I'm not really clear on the objective here. You want to template an environment in which to bind/ungroup links and manage the aftermath?
