Good afternoon, colleagues!

Question - is it possible for two or more architects to work together in REVIT? There is an object with 7 floors. It is necessary for each architect to make his own floor. How to do it?

@Anonymous

Assuming all the architects are working for the same firm, I would agree with a Work Sharing approach.

It is also possible that the 7 architects all work independently in separate firms. An example of this is having a commercial building with 7 floors to be fit up by different firms but the same contractor.

could you clarify?

-luc

I don't have a good answer, but another thing to consider for work-sharing is that all parties use the same shared-parameters and keynote txt file.

So if those 7 people are from separate companies, they have their own shared parameters and keynotes and I don't see how you coordinate that. Same issue if you have multiple disciplines from the same company.

What I've done with external (structural) consultants I gave them my model, they linked that in theirs and did their part, and i linked their structural model into mine. That is a manual process to exchange files. I had to create "fake" structural sheets to match theirs so my sheet index was correct. Not ideal, but I could use my shared parameters, keynotes etc. and they could use their system.

If all 7 architects are from the same company, it is worth to have a BIM manager that coordinates so everyone does it the same way. but with separate companies, all those are temporary relationships and each company has their own ways.

As I said, I don't have a good answer, or lot of experience, but throw in these things to consider. Best to iron out before you start the project.....

This is where BIM execution plan helps because it allows different architects to understand the end goal of the handover. As well you need BIM manager to guide the architects so they don't create their own standard or redo the work.
