I want to show only the concrete foundation on my foundation walls using the only core feature.

To do so I have to take my basement studs/EPS out of the core as below.

When I do this, my basement dividing wall cores cut into the EPS no matter what as below. How do I avoid this?

if you are not in Revit 2022 this isn't possible with out workarounds. So yes I would model the walls separately then create a filter to turn off the other walls

If you want the wall to stop flush with the EPS, select the wall, then click the blue dot and right click and select "disallow join". Then use Align.

I am in 2022.

Aligning doesn't get rid of the plaster - so now I have an intersection that goes stud-plaster-stud.

Actually I was able to get the right connection.

No idea how though - and it's not replicable, it's the only time this works. But it goes against how walls should work - the core is not connection to the core. Is this a new feature in revit 2022?

Wall joins in Revit are always a piece of ****. This is what I get otherwise. Honestly such a poorly thought out feature.

Funniest thing is that now that I've upgraded to Revit 2022 - wall joins that were not working before now work fine. I know people will say user error here, but I think it's just that walls do not work as advertised.

Pull the wall back to face of plaster. You can also explore using Parts to control the individual layers of the plaster on the foundation wall. Or as someone else may have suggested, model the plaster as a separate wall (at foundation wall.)

Yeah no. At this point it's five time the amount of work. File this under not reasonably doable. Revit needs to rethink wall joins altogether.

Ok, now do this 20 times for every wall intersection and then once again once you move the wall.

On top of which, you now have to show parts which brings about issues of its own.

I'm not saying this doesn't work - just that it's no feasible and another example, albeit minor, of just how terrible wall joins are to work with in Revit. The concept is flawed.

Any idea how the previous accidental success I have might be working?
