I followed the method of selecting lines singularly & dividing their path first, and further moving on to adjacent segment. But once I select the adjacent segment, both the lines are getting joined by itself to form a single line & also the new line formed is getting divided on its own using the division parameters set for previous line (even after using TAB)...
Also, the snapshots you had shared earlier for the arch that shows path dividing (att. jpeg file), in that I guess the length of inner & outer face is different (seemed so from the snap), but divisions are equal. If you could share a snapshot of the "division parameters" for both the faces, it will help!

I guess a screencast can help out! Please upload the same.

I have made this family using extrusion option, which is essentially a type of entrance portal. I want to add a network of lattice truss (50mm x 25mm x 2mm) inside the portal & cladding with fiberboard material, but not getting how to proceed with this. Attached .rfa file of the same & an image of the desired lattice truss arrangement.

Alright. Maybe the approach would be a Divided Surface with a Pattern-Based Panel.

...see if this thread inspires you:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/problem-while-creating-parametric-truss-design-using-surface/td-p/9679656

@Anonymous

You can do that using adaptive components or just using Beams/Framing elements. If you want to go down the adaptive component path, you can follow @barthbradley link and see if it inspires you. Or check YouTube, there are lots of tutorial for adaptive spaceframe components and trusses.

If you are not into adaptive components there is an easier alternative by using structural beams/framing (considering that Truss is a small structure)

start off by creating a mass in-place and modeling a divided path. (See image below) (can be used if going with adaptive components too)

Finish the mass in-place sketch

Place Beams using 3D snapping

Adjust cuts at beginning and end and use Beam/Column Joins tool where necessary

It is slightly time consuming...took some 25 mins to generate the below. Might take you longer if it is your first trial with beams and structural elements

Hi there,

You can use the sample from this website

https://www.bimandco.com/en/bim-objects/4710-box-truss-triangle-truss-ladder-truss/details

If you want to adapt the shape, you can simply use the sample from the website and add this to the generic model adaptive family template. Add in point and make it adaptive

Create new adaptive model family and then you draw in the outline of the shape you want. Click on divide

Load in the family and then you snap it to one of those divide nodes. Press repeater button (Array icon with P)

You can adjust the distance according to the size of that box.

I am facing a bit of problem while dividing path of the structure, i.e. if I keep the no. of divisions same for both the inner & outer face of the arch, the points are not coming in a straight line (wouldn't happen obviously because the inner face length is lesser than the outer). I am quite new to Revit, & this exercise is based on youtube tutorial videos as well steps shared by you earlier.

So, I need help on how to set the parameters to match the divide points on both faces similar to the ones shown in your model.
Would be really helpful if you could also attach the revit file of the image shared earlier.

Thanks a lot for the video!
I followed the procedure as shown in video, and it worked. Attaching a snap of the same. Identified what I was missing in my previous attempts- making a reference plane, so that both the inner & outer face come up to same lengths.

Also, for the truss I want to put a fiber board cladding on it (image attached). So the method that I am following right now for that is - creating an extrusion family of the respective face of arch profile with a lesser depth (depth equivalent to cladding material depth) , placing that profile on face of arch & applying material to it. Same procedure I was thinking to follow, for cladding all the faces of truss.

Wanted to know if there are other methods for doing this.

@Anonymous

Yeah there are severl...one of which is using the Mass and chords which you already created in order to generate a Surface then Apply to it a Wall:By Face. Then assign whichever layers and/or material

PS: Considering that You have already solved the issue of the Original Post, Why not start a new Thread and attach your Revit file.
