Room Tags Show up when hovering - then disappear

I have rooms and room tags turned on in v/g. They tags show up if I turn on the architectural room tags - I want to be able to place my own. When I do that - they show up when hovering, but when I finalize they disappear and tell me that tags aren't visible in this view. If I turn on hidden objects - the tags show gray as if they are visible.

Turn on the Interior Fill of the Room Category.

Maybe I misunderstood. Tags? They are View-Specific Elements.

Try this too: Turn on Reference Subcategory. Select the Room and check it's Limit Offset.

That didn't work. I turned on interior fill in room category and it just made my rooms turn light blue - tags still don't show up.

Ok I checked the limit offset of the room (with the reference turned on) and it was 8'. My view range is 20' (top), 12' cut plane, and 0' bottom. Do I need to change something?

Your View Cut Plane needs to intersect the Room.

If your room are lower than the 12' cut plane then they and their tags are not visible. Lower the cut plane or raise the Rooms' Limit Offset.

Ok - I can't change the limit offset of the room - it is in an architectural link - not my model. I can change my view range. I changed the upper level to 'layer above - 0' (which is 13' looking in section). Then I changed my cut plan to 6'. Wouldn't that mean I was cutting the room down at 7' - which is in fact in the limit offset? That still doesn't work so not sure if I am doing something wrong.

If the cut plane is at 6' then the rooms are cut at 6', so technically if the rooms offset limit is above 6' then they should show. Do me a favor and cut a section, turn on Rooms > Interior Fill, make sure you see the link's rooms in the section, and post a picture here.

I'm a little confused. Are you trying to create rooms from an architectural link that has Rooms? How are you accomplishing this? Are the Bounding Walls in the Parent Project or are you using Room Separation Lines in the Parent?

I am not trying to create rooms at all - just trying to 'tag' the architectural rooms that are created. To throw a bigger pickle in to the mix - when I turn on the 'old' architectural model the room tags show up. When I reload the 'new' architectural model, the room tags won't stay. The limit offset is the same for both room references.

Doesn't sound to me like you have any bounding elements. Trace the walls with Room Separation Lines and place your Rooms and Tags into those spaces bound by the RPs.

can't - NDA. i'm trying to ask the architect what they changed (regarding rooms) within the two models. one is working fine with tags - one is not.

Select the Linked Model, and in Properties, make sure "Room Bounding" is checked for the linked model.

Okay, so it is View Range related - as stated above.

...I'm betting that "Leader" is checked on the Options Bar for Room Tag as well. Winner, winner, chicken dinner?

...also, check the Room Tag Category under VGO's Annotations Categories Tab.
