Are people using Editing Requests? If their requests are granted after they close their local file Revit they will still become the "next" borrower". If users take advantage of Editing Requests they should make sure they withdraw any that are still outstanding before closing their project file.

If editing requests are not contributing, then make sure everyone is syncing and relinquishing all worksets by using the Synchronize and Modify Settings button, not Synchronize Now. The dialog only appears for the first button and that give you a chance to see which workset categories have been affected. Once they sync then use the Relinquish All Mine button. As a further check, open the Workset dialog and check all the workset categories at the bottom and then review the owner/borrower columns to see if their username remains listed.

If they still appear in either column, what 3rd party applications are you using, if any? I've seen 3rd party tools affect synchronization like described. If the project(s) are hosted on ACC/BIM360 then consider starting a support request with Autodesk and inviting one of their techs to the project to see if they can determine what's going on.

It could be UNIFI/ Content Catalog

So far it its only 2d elements like you pointed out
I have not seen it happen with walls

It happens upon opening and upon synching so i assume is during reload latest

We are having similar issues when opening and synchronizing. Hoping there is a fix soon. It appears users are being given fake ownership of a bunch of random items. All models are hosted on ACC. prior to upgrading to the new 2024.3 patch release, we did not have these issues. Sync times are 3-4 times longer too. Often we have to sync multiple times. We have zero issues like this in any of our 2022 or 2023 REVIT template projects.

The problem was the UNIFI's Add in, we fixed the issue by removing the UNIFI folders from the Add-in folders,
however the latest UNIFI (3.10.4) update should also fix this issue.

This is atypical worksharing behavior. Users are showing as the borrowers of upwards of 75% of the project families at project open, prior to editing or manually interacting with the project in any manner.

Curious if this is a result of Content Catalog querying the project families to assess which are Unifi/Content Catalog derived and somehow triggering and retaining editing permissions.

This is exclusive to projects edited with 2024.3 and having all project editors on the same 2024.3 build and Content Catalog release does not prevent the issue.

This recommendation also works:

"What i'm seeing is that whenever one of us opens the model, either Revit or Unifi is touching all of the families and borrowing them. the suggestion i've heard so far is to uninstall Unifi, but that seems like not the best idea, so what i recommend is that once you open the model, sync right away to relinquish ownership of the families. if you happen to receive a message like this while opening, refrain from placing an editing request and click "cancel" - the model should still open. if you can't sync because of other users' ownership of these elements, just reach out to them to sync. and just be careful of leaving editing requests pending. for this specific issue, try not to use them."

"the suggestion i've heard so far is to uninstall Unifi, but that seems like not the best idea,"

Actually, if it's Unifi causing this, this is the best to do.

A Addin should never do something in a model that would cause ownership, at least not without notifying the user in some way.

If after a sync, new families come into the project from other users, those may/or may not get ownership again.

Very dangerous behaviour. I don't know unifi, but they should have a "stop/pause" mode.

I've had addins that had issues like this before, a Rendering addin, while not in use regens all 3D view in the model with each Sync.

In the large models this took about 30min. to complete.
