The Conceptual Mass Model and the Autocad link.

Is it possible not to import the autocad link in the normal Project Environment, when I load the Conceptual Mass (which contains an Autocad link) into Main Building model?

You cannot link a CAD into Conceptual Mass...It is import only
You can link a CAD into an in-place mass (in project environment

If the DWG is not deleted/purged out from the conceptual Mass, it will be go into the project once the Conceptual Mass is loaded into the project. However; if you do not want to delete/purge the DWG from the conceptual mass, you can always IN PROJECT Environment >>> Go to Object Style >>> Imported Categories >> uncheck the Imported CAD which you dont need loaded in the project

@RDAOUthank you. In this way I make the DWG not visible. But is it still in the file? I wish I didn't have it at all in the main project, because I already have so many problems with shadows... I don't want to overload the program with the DWG. If there is no way, maybe I should erase it in the conceptual mass, that is, at the origin, after using it and reload it from time to time when I have to change the conceptual mass.

Select the CAD import in your Conceptual mass family or CAD link in your in-place mass family and uncheck Visible box.

It shouldn't give you any issues if it is unchecked as shown in previous reply... CADs mostly cause performance issues when

they are exploded
they contain 10s of thousands+ of elements
When they are further than 10miles from the Internal origin

If you are worried about the shadows issue from your previous post...it was not the CAD Links causing it. Less CAD enhances the performance but it is not always the root cause when performance drops.

When you select an imported CAD on the properties palette there is a parameter for visibility...you can associate it with a parameter to turn the DWG on and off

the downside of this parameter is if your conceptual mass is ONLY consisting of a DWG import and you switch that visibility off...it would be hard to reselect it and switch it on

I had tried with this, but the dwg I visually at any rate in the mass model file.

@RDAOU @ToanDN Wow! It worked! In the general project I loaded the mass model and the DWG does not appear! it's magic 😎 😍 But by going to change the mass model, making the DWG file visible again, for example, will the model in the general file be updated with the changes? Or will I have to reload it again? Thank you very much!

In the Conceptual Mass >> click the button next to Visible ...>> create a parameter call it DWG Visibility >> check the box Instance then click ok

Reload to the main model

Once in the Model >>> Select the Mass >>> on the properties palette You can use that parameter to switch it on off from the project directly without reloading

Can I do something similar when I import a revit file that contains an autocad file, so that the Autocad file is not imported into the new Revit file as well? Can i create a parameter here too?

Yes...in the project,

Go to Architecture tab >>>
Component >>
Model in Place >>>
Pick category Generic Model (if you want the dwg to be cuttable - otherwise Mass) >>>
LINK the CAD >>>
select the CAD Instance >>
on the properties palette click the button next to Visible and create a parameter

I tried "Generic Model", but the "visible" button does not appear.

I think you skipped a step...after you link into an inplace generic model...SELECT the DWG then the invisible parameter will show on the palette...See GIF below
