Explain how you miter a corner again...

Why won't this corner miter? I've turned off all the joins with nearby walls. I split them out in a group to post here. The corner still won't heal even with everything removed. Do I have to do EVERY layer as its own wall to get this junk to work right???

This is what Revit thinks is a mitered corner!!

It's kind of a mess with all the Top & Base Extensions.

Top and base extensions happen. That shouldn't prevent a corner from healing.

Remove the Extensions and put 'em back after you correct the join. Might try Miter Join as well.

Isolate the pair of walls you want to Miter and do it a pair at a time if you want to keep the top/base offset/extension.

It is one of those cases where user is PROMPTED with a warning (a sometimes a tip - such as in the case of vertical extensions) but the user either might have not noticed it or was in a rush and simply ignored it.

for such walls, I would use the following workflow:

Stack the 3 types in a System Stacked wall
Place the walls
Set the joins
Disassemble/Breakup the stacked walls
Set the desired extensions

Otherwise, fixing the wall joins would be a trial and error exercise, at one corner it works at another it doesn't. At this stage, if you have all your walls already placed, the most feasible and least troublesome would be what @barthbradley suggested...remove the vertical extensions >> fix the Joins >> reapply the Vertical Extensions

Guess what? IT DIDN'T WORK.

None of these joins will heal, in fact I'm not even allowed to use miter (it keeps jumping back to butt). It all stems from the fact the software can't handle the intersection of one wall with two walls of differing height because one join has to run the whole corner, never mind extensions, which when THEY'RE brought back in the join goes right back the way it was! I need something smarter than this overpriced crap.

I can only guess that you are still not doing it right...I didn't want to download the file but just to avoid making further guess, see GIF below...These are your walls

all sections mitered
with Vertical extensions

HA! Yeah, I told you it was a mess. But it's definitely fixable. The key is to remove ALL the Mitering, Joining and Top and Bottom Extensions -- and start afresh.

WELL OF COURSE IT WORKS IF YOU CHEAT! You made the tops and bottoms of the walls the same! The walls below aren't interfering with the walls above. So what if that works? That doesn't match the real world conditions I have to build to or address the underlying condition that the core of this software IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!

@kgatzke: did you miss the part where we said to remove all the Extensions and put them back once you got all the Joining and Mitering resolved. Works like a charm. Promise.

No I didn't miss that because I'd already tried it. It may work like a charm in the excerpt I posted here but in the main model where there are other walls, floors, roofs, etc. it survives about one day and then the corner opens up again. When I came back from vacation I ended up in-place modeling the whole section. There are now 3 separate in-place models of walls WALLS! in this project because Revit can't handle commonplace occurrences like joins between walls of different heights, walls with sloping bases or tops or brick shelves. Really? I don't how this made it out of quality control with these folks, or even if they have a quality control dept., but if your architecture software can't handle walls, what good is it?

You suck, Autodesk.

I feel your pain @kgatzke, but I'm wondering: why the same thing isn't happening on my end? I've used Revit many, many years now. Also, I've regularly monitored all the Revit Users Forums out there over the same period of time, and I can only recall a handful of threads about this "issue". So, obviously it isn't prevalent - or people have found an acceptable workaround.

You wrote: "There are now 3 separate in-place models of walls WALLS!" What do you mean by this? I thought we were talking about System Family Walls - not In-Place Modeled Walls? Or maybe you are talking Parts? I can see how Parts would be messed up. Is that what's going on here?
