illuminance by revit

hey everybody,

I'm working on my master degree research which examine the effect of adding light ducts in an existing space. It seems like the duct is not getting any light to the space, I dont know that the problem is. is there any certain way to open the ceiling to get the ducts fit?? should I model the ducts in revit or I can just import them from autocad and give them the suitable material??

please help

Ok, At the moment you are posting in the Revit API forum. This forum dealas with programming, writing add-ins for Revit.

It is better to choose another forum to post your question like Revit Architecture or Revit MEP.

If you mention light duct, are you talking about ducts that reflect light from outside the building into a room, duct with reflective coating?

I never tried it but I doubt that Revit will able to (accurately) calculate all the reflections necessary to get the light from outside through the duct into the room. If you try to simulate it, I would just add a light source at the end of light duct.

I do not think you will get an answer to your question here.

This forum is for Revit API issues, on programming in Revit.

Before you start programming anything, though, you need to clarify the optimal manual workflow through the end user interface.

The Revit API almost only supports functionality that is available through the UI.

You should therefore research the optimal workflow and best practices to address your task at hand manually through the user interface first of all.

To do so, please discuss and analyse it with an application engineer, product usage expert, or product support.

Once you have got that part sorted out, it is time to step into the programming environment.
