topic Retrieving the angle of a valve in a sloped pipe. in Revit API Forum

Hi,

I have been working on creating valve families that would be able to display generic annotation in sloped pipe. I was able to do this by creating a family inside another family and have a rotation angle inside to manually assign the to make the symbol parallel with the workplane. So here is my question is it possible to retrieve the angle of the slope for the valve? I have looked inside of RevitLookup and was unable to find anything.

Thanks in advance

Dear William Wydock,

Can you provide a reproducible case for it?

In order to explore this matter further, we will need to provide a minimal reproducible case for the development team to analyse in depth.

In order to understand exactly what you mean and be able to research possible reasons for the discrepancy between the observed and expected behaviour, they require:
· A short exact description of what you are trying to achieve.
· The behavior you observe versus what you expect, and why this is a problem.
· A complete yet minimal Revit sample model to run a test in.
· A complete yet minimal macro embedded in the sample model or Visual Studio solution with add-in manifest that can be compiled, loaded, run and debugged with a single click to analyse its behavior live in the sample model.
· Detailed step-by-step instructions for reproducing the issue, e.g. which element to pick, what command to launch etc.

Besides, similar questions has already been discussed repeatedly in the Revit API discussion forum, e.g., in these threads on changing a pipe's slope:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-api-forum/pipe-slope-not-updating/m-p/6781872
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-api/changing-a-pipe-s-slope/m-p/5839854

This family is still a working in progress but i have attached a project that contains the family in a sloped pipe.

Dear William Wydock,

We can retrieve the slope angle from Element.get_parameter(BuiltInParameter.RBS_PIPE_SLOPE), see attached screenshot; can you confirm if this solves your question?
