Hi all, I purchased a new Asus Rog Zephyrus Gaming Notebook (specs attached) relatively recently and im having terrible problems with it. Basically all my commands are delayed and just very slow in general on the autodesk software i use (navisworks, formit and revit). My home screen is also very slow however i sent it back to the manufacturer for repair and they stated that it was a software issue as it passed all the tests they ran. i will attach examples of both of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this laptop was not cheap.

Install Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility and set the turbo boost to max.

I don't think your turbo boost is on. When running AutoDesk products on a laptop the cooling fans should be very audible.

Cheers,

Joshua.

Out of interested when you open Navisworks do you audibly hear the laptop getting louder? (this is what should happen).
Also a benchmark with Valley and get an FPS average, that way you can eliminate the graphics card.

So when i open navisworks the laptop does not get louder at all. I also just used the valley benchmark to test my fps and when i ran it on basic the fps was all 2 and 3, didn't move over 5 fps once. Then when i tried to run it on extreme the program would not respond. So is my graphics card the problem then?

Most definitely you should be getting around 60 fps and higher.
The good news is that we've isolated the problem to the graphics card. Have you tried plugging in an external screen? and turning off the internal screen.

Do it to see if it does something different, external screens could be more directly connected to the GPU. diana_sc post above is the one to follow. I tried the benchmark valley today when I first turned on my computer. It is usually responsive for the first few minutes when I turn it on. I got around 30 fps. Then it went slow and delayed again and I recorded another benchmark (see attached). I just hooked my computer up to another computer and used it as a monitor and I still got the same delay and lag. Correct me if im wrong but this would mean its a graphics card problem for definite?

Yes it's your graphics card, there is some sort of temperature throttling going on, it is fast at first until the temperature increases then it throttles back because the cooling fans are not kicking in. I just did a benchmark on a 1050ti (on high settings (the default)) and I am getting an average of 85fps. Your card is more powerful and should getting >100ftp on average. And it should be loud (depending on the quality) but over 40 decibels.
