Coordinate system in Recap Photo

Hi!

First time using Recap Photo for a flight made with an UAV.

Gathered the photos (138) and when selecting the GCP noticed that the Portuguese coordinate system is not listed : ETRS89 PTTM06 (EPSG 3763).

Is it possible to add it to the application?

If not, how can I create the GCP? They were created in the field using a GPS with the portuguese coordinate system.

Dear @Anonymous,

Recap Photo uses the same shared Autodesk coordinate systems as all other Autodesk programs (Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Map 3D, AutoCAD, etc.) use as well.

The Portuguese coordinate system EPSG 3763 is not part of the coordinate system database.

In Civil/Map 3D use MAPCSLIBRARY to open the coordinate system database to search for all available system.

You have some options now:

With Civil/Map 3D create the coordinate system you want to use. You will also need to define the transformation settings
The new custom coordinate system can now be used to transform your GCP points into an Autodesk known system, i.e. ETRS89.UTM xx
The transformed coordinates can be used in Recap Photo
Alternatively, use any (online) software that is able to transform for GCP points to an Autodesk known system before creating the Recap Photo project

Hello, Karsten.Saenger and thank you for the feedback.

Altough the options you mentioned resolve the problem i can´t understand why is it not possible to add a new coordinate system in Recap or why is that feature isn´t in place.

And as a portuguese new user of Autodesk products I feel somewhat disappointed for it.

I´ll have to transform the GDC points from EPSG 3763 to an Autodesk known coordinate system to use in Recap and after I'll have to move the final result to EPSG 3763 so it can be used by the client. Not very effective...

But, you gave the solutions to overcame the situation and for that, thank you very much.

Will follow up this with the steps and the software I´ll use to transform the coordinates.

I understand your point and will double check with the Map 3D team who "owns" the coordinate systems features at Autodesk, to see if EPSG 3763 can be added to the CS library.

El problema que describe el usuario Miguel Guimarães, lo tengo yo en el presente. Han pasado 8 años y todavia no han incluido ese sistema de coordenadas. En mi caso es para exportar ficheros a kmz. Es muy importante para nuestro trabajo, y nuestro cliente.

Espero resolvais pronto el asunto.

I can understand your frustration since 8 years is a very long time.
Please note that the topic of coordinate systems can't be solved on the ReCap (Photo) side. All Autodesk coordinate systems are shared by different Autodesk products.

I might have some good news: EPSG 3763 is planned to be added to the Autodesk Coordinates systems with one of the next updates for AutoCAD 2026. Once it's added there, you should also be able to select it for any online processing in ReCap Photo.

Hi Miguel,
I've attached ETRS89/PT-TM06 (EPSG:3763). In Civil 3D or Map 3D use command MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT to add it to your coordinate systems.
