Scans too dark to make out anything in the manaul registration process

So as the title suggests whenever I import e57 point-cloud files into recap pro and get to the registration process the scans are too dark to make out anything. I've tried using other formats, such as Las, xyz and the colors were fine but I couldn't seem to register them at all, only index them. any help would be appreciated as I am new to the field
