I am currently using a FARO x330 fixing to upgrade to the x350 as the latter is unsupported now. i have noticed it works well with recap with less than 10 scans, then i am experiencing difficulties.

I currently work for a company and they have given me the green light to get a 3d scanner to help create scans of our manufacturing plants. I am struggling to find a scanner that I can get that doesn't come with its own software. I am looking for one that will work with recap. Does anyone have any recommendations?

You will have a struggle. Most scanner producers want you to have to buy the software. I'd think any software that will produce a file readable by Recap would do. I'd suggest looking for suitable scanners and seeing which have the least expensive software.

We run a Leica scanner and use their Cyclone and Cloudworx software for Civil 3D. But they're not at all inexpensive.

I'm getting more into Recap now that we have a DJI drone and their Terra software. Again, not inexpensive. But Recap helps us get the Point Cloud into Civil 3D.
