You will need surveyed ground control points which you can enter into ReCap and locate on the scans.

Search for ReCap and Control Points. Locate points in your Revit Model and get the coordinates of those points. Mark those same points in the real world before the scan. Once scanned, you can add coordinates to those survey points within ReCap.

I've tried this, and in all honesty, I think it's easier to just insert the scan and move/rotate it into position.

But, it is nice not to have to do that.

I have been given a revit file that represents an existing building. The firm created the file off of original construction documents and field verification. It also has not been created with without a survey. There is an area that will be scanned and from the scan, a rcp will be created. How do I align the rcp file to the given revit file so it can align correctly without manually rotating it?

Thanks,
