Need Help with Coordinate System

I am using point clouds and from the meta data, the best I can tell about the coordinate system is

NAD_1983_2011_Contiguous_USA_Albers",GEOGCS["GCS_NAD_1983_2011",DATUM["D_NAD_1983_2011",SPHEROID["GRS_1980",6378137.0,298.257222101]],PRIMEM

I am having trouble selecting the appropriate current coordinate system using Recap such that when I bring the point cloud into Civil 3D it is properly georeferenced.

Neal,
A while back I created the 2011NAD83/ConusAlbers(EPSG:6350) Coordinate System in Map 3D. I've attached it. Use Command MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT to add it to your MAPCSLIBRARY in Civil 3D or Map 3D. I've also filtered Ground(2) Points and used ReCap to Transform the Point Cloud from 2011NAD83/ConusAlbers to NAD83/Florida North(ftUS).

Neal,
You'll add that Coordinate System to MAPCSLIBRARY in Civil 3D or Map 3D. Use Command MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT. ReCap uses the Coordinate System Library from Map 3D.

MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT failed to import the xml file.

After using MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT, Close and Save your Drawing, then Exit >> Re-Start Civil 3D. It should be there now.

Dave, I was having the same problem. Thankfully, your thread showed up in google search and yes, it worked like a champ!. I have no idea how you made this coordinate system and don't want to b/c it would blow my brain trying to figure it out. That said, I am very thankful you shared it. I really appreciate you.

Thanks for your reply today to my similar EPSG 6350 problem. Now I found your file above, but it failed to import to the library altogether. (I closed and rechecked, just to make sure).

Yay! The custom CS (homebrew EPSG 6350) did finally appear in both C3D and Recap!

How could I use this coordinate system to import a DEM file? When trying to apply a CS code, I cannot seem to locate the imported system as an option even though I can find in my library. It doesn't seem to have a category, so maybe that is part of the problem.

I want my coordinate system to be in state plane, but I'm trying to bring in USGS data.

Thanks for posting your link.
Metadata at your link shows, and drag-n-dropping the tiff into QGIS verifies, it's in the geographic coordinate system >>>EPSG:4269 NAD83<<<.

Wow, it's huge! 117 million points! That's gonna take a while to load, and will bog down C3D. I'd suggest you use a data clip boundary before import, or crop the tif to your area of interest using QGIS or similar software.

A data clip boundary is definitely the goal, but I have to be able to import it into the right spot first. Any guesses on the coordinate system setting?

The LiDAR point cloud data is best. A tif DTM is a derivative product. In ReCap you can transform the 2011NAD83/ConusAlbers laz into IN83-EF. You'll also want to filter ground (2) points:
histogram of classification of points:
5356375 unclassified (1)
3556317 ground (2)
1317 noise (7)
847 bridge deck (17)
118 Reserved for ASPRS Definition (18)
And you'll definitely want to crop that cloud to under 2 million points before using it in C3D.
