Just looking for any help or input.

After a lot of research, I know some of these issues are known, or people have reported them, so I at least know I am not alone, but this is beyond frustrating. I was so excited to start using this product, and was going to push for multiple licenses at our company, but without some fixes, I can no longer do so, as the software is so massively flawed to the point where it is unusable.

Dataset is 140+ interior scan locations, PTX format, pre-registered in UTM coordinates using occupy/backsite control. PC is HP Elitebook 8770W w/ Core i7, Quadro K5000M, and 32 GB RAM.

Note that 3 of these bugs seem to happen "over time". Everything is fine, for a while, then the problems start, and you can't recover, short of deleting the project, or using workarounds that involve completely not using the key features of the software!

1) deleting points / using regions - The issue where deleting points and creating regions, the software gets slower and slower and slower, to the point where it takes 30-60 minutes or more to delete just 1 single scan point. Yes, everyone has this issue. It's been reported, and is a known bug, and being worked on. Doing a save-as and saving the project as unified scan is NOT a solution. I was going to just deal with the frustration, by NOT using regions at all, and NOT deleting any points, just so that I could get my scans exported, but then I ran into more bugs...

2) Failed Exports - so I keep working after the frustration of the deleting points bug, only to find that ReCap eventually STOPS EXPORTING FILES COMPLETELY! Without me knowing of course...after some testing, I confirm that it's only a matter of time, and the only way to fix it is to close the software and re-open it. Ok that's an easy fix, but it's still a ridiculous problem. All I am doing is using the crop tool, to isolate an area, and exporting to RCS. I wait until it is done, uncrop, crop next area, export, repeat. Well, after a while I decided to look at the file folder only to find that half my files werent there. After a certain time, it just stopped exporting. After testing, and exporting the same points to multiple locations and drives, not once did a file show up. The progress bar completes, but no file. As soon as I restart the program, it exports first try. So now I have to babysit the folder, wait until it fails (and it always does!) and close the program, and re-export again, and carry on until it fails again. Frustrating!

3) Limit box - It seems that AFTER A WHILE the limit box is severely disfunctional when working with large value coordinates (such as UTM). The box is not in any way manually adjustable, it is buggy in every way, cannot drag any of the planes to resize it. IT works when first starting and working in the project, I tested it. But after a while, it will almost always resize itself to match a cropped out area (even though I never even touched the limit box buttons). There is ZERO way that I have found to recover from this. Once the resize happens, it actually bugs out the display of the points, where if you zoom on the general area, and rotate the scan around, it will be visibly clipped by an invisible limit box. If you put the limit box on the display and try to resize it, it just jolts into nothingness, or contorts itself into some bogus trapezoidal shape, and you can't get it back. Clicking reset just brings it back to the bugged out size, and if you touch the size panes again it might just disappear. No amount of making all scans visible, non-visible, resetting the limit box, or redrawing it, will work. The redrawing function just drops a random box out into nowhere, and messes with the extents of the view. The only way I could find to get the scans back into view was to completely delete the project and re-import the RCS files. I've had to do this twice now, and I've never even touched the limit box buttons, until the software forced me to, to try and fix it.

4) Registration - more of a feature request - being able to select tie points from multiple scans. I need to import, say 6 scans from one room, they are pre-registered in Topcon ScanMaster using occupy-backsite control points. I need to then import 1 scan that was autonomous (no targets, no backsite). I need to register this scan to all the other 6 scans. Unfortunately, there is only SOME overlap to each scan, so ReCap cannot process this very well. If we could pick tie points from a group of scans, this process would work so much better, as it could see the overlap to all scan locations, and likely go from 7% overlap, to 75% overlap, making for a much better registration. Yes, I could do this in ScanMaster, but it is a convoluted process, and is the only reason I would purchase a Pro license of ReCap for.
