Hi,

The process should be exactly as you described.

The only format that ReCap reads is JPG, and after is completed you should be able to see your 3D model.

Do you still have issues opening the file in ReCap?

I'll ask some of my colleagues if they can investigate.

Thank you,

I am trying recap 360. Took some photos (360 degree) of a model using a basic Canon SLR camera.

I uploaded the photos into recap:

- When I hit the scan button...they scan 100%, but the icon doesn't turn into the actual image of the photo taken. It does have the check mark and gear next to it.

- When I launch the project there is nothing inside....no 3D model.

In reading through the forums I see that Recap doesn't accept .jpg photos and the workaround was to install memento which creates the model for me.

My question is, what type of file format/gear is needed to make use of Recap? Apparently it isn't as simple as taking photos with a camera then importing into Recap 360 (although the video of the photog take the photos of the statue lend one to believe that's how it's accomplished).

It sounds like maybe you're using the Windows/Desktop version of ReCap 360? That only supports creation of projects from laser scan data.

Creating a project from photos is even easier - just use the ReCap 360 web version (recap360.autodesk.com). This is what you see in the video.

Once your project is created you can use its model on the desktop as you would expect (or share it on the web).

HTH

Hi

I did exactly the same as you - Canon SLR 700D. I took 50 photos of a heritage building, waited 2 hours for them to upload, then no image 😞 I'd also like to see if I'm doing something wrong?? Also only using the web-based portal.

Thanks

Mik

Hi Mik,

If it's a complex scene you might need more than 50 images with a lot of overlap.

After submitting you should get an email that your model is completed.

For reference this is one great article on which photos are good and camera settings that work best with this web service.
