RECAP 360 PRO AND MEMENTO

Hi all, hopefully someone can help ASAP!

I am reasonably new to scanning and having issues meshing in Recap 360 Pro from Faro Scene Registered files. The projects seems to mesh but upon viewing them the mesh seems to jump all over the place & appears to corrugated. I am unsure if this is a graphics issue with my computer or workflow of bringing the data into Recap/meshlab.

In both example images the scan is of a flat concrete face.

The meshlab example is created from a .ptx file created automatically upon meshlab input.

The same issue of the corrugated looking mesh also occurs in meshlab when I try making meshes.
If anyone could help or offer any advice on best practices/processes for using Recap/meshlab and viewing the resultant meshes that would be fantastic!

Thanks for the reply Mitko,

The meshing was done using the scan to mesh feature. Bringing in registered scanned points from faro scene and skipping the Recap registration.

Also during meshing it seems to be frozen on progress of 39% for a long time. Is this a common occurance? And if so is their a solve of any sort?

Hi Tom,

This shouldn't happen. Can you share one project sample with us?

Also, do you use maximum resolution when submitting Scan-to-Mesh projects from ReCap?

And just to confirm, these meshes on your screenshot are initial results from the Scan to Mesh feature from ReCap correct?

Hi Mitko,

I have solved the issue shown in the screenshots. The issue was using scan to meshing a georeferenced dataset with false coordinates. When I meshed i other progerams non-georeferenced, the meshing worked fine.

The freezing at 39% or so seems to still be occuring, but if I close then reopen after a time it says that the process is complete and avaliable for download. However, when I try to download it takes me to a blank webpage and no downloading occurs for the .obj or .rcm files.

The last time I ran generate mesh option it simply failed after a period of time.

How exactly woould I go about shaing a project sample file?

After running updates for Recap all seemed to flow as it should. So problem solved and hopefuly it will be problem free in the future.
