HEY MITKO!!!,

Thanks for replying, can i ask how is the data recorded into the sd card for a 3d scanner, and how are the numbers calculated before being recorded down in the txt file, because i do not know how the numbers are calculated. but when i put in the recap 360, a 3d image pops up, here is a file thanks:)
Sincerely Gabriel

Dear Friends of Autodesk,

i am a noob at 3d scanning but i am willing to learn how to do it, i hope you guys can help me thanks:)

my knowledge on 3d scanning so far is that i know that the 3d scanner works by cloud points and a programme will make that cloud points into a mesh object which i can export into an stl file to print.

My problem is that from what i have: ir sensor sharp 10-80cm, stepper motor, arduino, easy driver, i know how to code the spinning turn table and z axis, but i do not know what to store in the sd card for the txt file, and i do not know how to get the txt file to become the stl file, i am using autodesk inventor 2015 and recap 360, hope to have a solution to my noob problem thanks:)
Sincerely Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

At the moment we don't have an option for converting point clouds from the sensor you have into 3D mesh format.

To do that you can open the point cloud in MehsLab and convert by following this video.

Our Scan-to-Mesh option only works for structured scan data, for files mainly coming from terrestrial scanners on a tripod, like: Faro, Leica, Z+F, Trimble, Topcon, Riegl, etc...

Best,

Mitko
