A client sent me a project from a third party. I get an error loading it (see attached).

On a side note: I tried to use the "Schedule a call" form to... well, you know.

Attached is the form. After you fill it out, then what? There is nothing to select to proceed. Is this a joke?

Client needs an answer immediately. I'd like to give him one.

Thx.

Buck Wyckoff

BDSI

Are you trying to open this ReCap project in ReCap Desktop? Would you be able to provide more detail workflow for further investigation.

Thank you and have a great day!

Not much to say other than, yes, I am opening this via the Recap Pro desktop app. Then I get the error message.

I've already told my client that, based on clues in the error message, I suspect that Recap can be performed in the cloud (which I never do nor ever will.... forensic issues), but this project was and now I'm opening it locally and it won't work for some apples vs. oranges (desktop vs. cloud) reason.

This was done by a third party in the case and we have no control of any of it. They were told to product their work and this is what we got.

It all looks normal in that there is a project file and the associated Support folder with the dozens of support files, rcs's rcc's etc... An image of the support folder is attached. The "bike" scans show up in Recap after you close the error message. The bus does not (which is what we want most of all). They were in the same storage lot outside when all this was scanned. The reason I know this is the mirror balls for all the scans are there, including the bus, so you can look at the Real View and see the bus that is being scanned from any given scan location, the bus pointcloud in this registered project is not there though. The bike pointcloud is there with all those mirror balls around it. You can open an individual rcs in the support folder and see just that scan's pointcloud.

If the answer is, it was done this other web way and it cannot be given to a third party for opening via the desktop app, then so be it. I just need to tell my client what the deal is. If it is a web vs.desktop issue. It would be nice if they could be designed to be compatible.

Maybe there is a way to save a web based project to make it desktop friendly?

Anyway,

Thanks for looking into it.

Buck Wyckoff

BDSI

Would you be able to share ReCap Project (.PRJ) and supporting folder for further investigation? If you can then let me know and will share A360 project drive folder with you.

I doubt it. I can ask my client but it is not supposed to get shared. This is an ongoing legal matter.

Also, Autodesk changed my login. It used to be BuckWyckoff (ID). They changed it to my email and now I show up on forums as subs. That looks weird (and kinky). I look at my profile and it says my screen name is Buck_Wyckoff. So why doesn't that show up instead of the stupid looking @subs?

I do not see anywhere where I can make a change in my user account.

Is this project was created using BLK360 scanner and then sync to ReCap Desktop? What version of ReCap Pro user is using?

Also, I don't know what happen to your screen name but I will investigate further and will give you an update soon.

I cannot tell you anything because this came from the other side of a legal case. We got the files. That is all. We do not know anything else about it.

I am not familiar with workflows other than the desktop app I use when processing faro scans I do. Sorry, I don't know and cannot get that information as of yet. I'll ask the client, but he is busy getting a report out for tomorrow and will not be able to chase it down until afterwards. If I learn anything more, I'll let you know.
