Intensity view problem

The intensity view in Real View shown in Recap seems just a black/white image regenerated from RGB mode. It is not a real intensity view compared to original one comes from Faro Scene. Thus overexposed views were displayed as shown in the attached image file. Any ideas to fix this?

* Scans were imported from fls file exported from Faro Scene 7.1.1.

Thank you for participating in our Community! I was wondering what version of ReCap Pro are you using? Would you be able to import in different format like PTG or E57 and see if you are still seeing this behavior.

Thank you for reply. I'm using the latest version of Recap Pro. I've tried e57 format, it doesn't work. I'll test PTG later.

Please compare the pictures provided. Although they can be opened normally, the details of overexposed part disappeared in Recap.

I'm noticing the same thing when transferring from SCENE to ReCap.

The 'intensity' turns to just greyscale. Very disappointing.

When assembled in ReCap, the intensity works great. When assembled with SCENE, then translated to ReCap, the intensity is lost.

I don't know if it is a SCENE export issue or a ReCap import issue.

It's a bummer, because we rely on the intensity scan to see out through open doors and into dark recesses as I'm sure everyone else does too.

Hi @rcsoul,

I just got an update from development team saying that Faro SDK doesn’t provide the ability to read reflectance information from colored FLS scan. So, through FaroSDK API, we can only get lightness of color. If you bring in the raw scan and also the color image, ReCap will read the original reflectance information and will also colorize the scan using the provided color image.

Here is detail from Faro SDK document about the reflectance value:

Property scanReflectionMode Determines the way reflection or color values are returned.

For grey scan points: Original reflection value of the scanner. In the case of a FARO Laser Scanner, this is in the range of 0 to 2047. For color: the lightness of the color in the range 0 to 4095.
For grey scan points: Mapped reflection value is in the range 0 (black) to 255 (white). For color: the lightness of the color in the range 0 to 255.
For grey scan points: Mapped reflection value is in the range 0 (black) to 255 (white) as RGB grey value. For color: RGB color, 8 bits per channel (bits 0‐7: red, bits 8‐15: green, bits 16‐23: blue). The default reflection mode is 1.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused too. We register in SCENE because it's faster and more flexible than registering in ReCap. So it seems odd than registering raw .fls scans in ReCap works, but importing registered .fls files exported from SCENE loses the intensity values.
